In a report and order issued by the FCC back in November 0f 2022, the commission issued a list of "covered" equipment for which equipment authorization would be prohibited. This includes equipment that pose a national security threat to the United States of America.
The manufacturers affected by this report and order are Chinese telecommunications and video surveillance equipment brands Huawei, ZTE, Hytera, Hikvision, and Dahua. These rules are an implementation of the bipartisan secure equipment act of 2021 and officially came into effect on Febrary 6, 2023.
